Before you print
Check
the Page Setup dialog box .
The
print area for this printer is 8 x 10 inches, but the paper itself
is 8.5
x 12. It is very important that you choose 8.5 x 12 instead
of letter size.
Please be aware that you may also need to scale your image to fit
the new paper size.
You can only print to the Kodak via PC2 (beside
the Kodak). If PC2 gives “unable
to connect to CCDomain” error, restart the machine and try again. If
this problem persists, see IT.
Media
We have only glossy photo paper
for this printer, no transparencies. Please use the HP5500 for transparencies.
Supplies are located in the red filing cabinet to the right
of the printer: Kodak Thermal Paper and Kodak 3-color ribbon.
Print
Area/ Page size
You may need to resize your image if you have been using a letter size
page. The print area for this printer is 8 x10, but the paper size
is 8.5 x 12. You must select 8.5 x12 instead of letter in the Page
Setup dialog box before printing. If the paper size is not correct,
the printer will stop all jobs in the queue. Someone from Graphics
or Technology Services will most likely cancel the job in that event,
so that the printer can continue.
Resolution
The highest resolution for this printer is 300 dpi.
Printing on nights and weekends
If you plan to make lots of
prints when Graphics Support and Technology Services won't be around, please
ask one of us to put in a new ribbon and paper before we leave for the
day (ask early so you don't miss us!) so you won't run out.
Common problems
Part
of the image gets cut off: this
due to setting the right paper size, but failing to resize the
image accordingly.
If “Load ribbon” message comes up on the Kodak display, double check
all settings on your document. The paper should be set to 85.x12, but
the print area (maximum image size) is 8x10. If all settings are correct,
hit the “print” button on the front of the printer. This will force
the printer to proceed with printing.
If “load paper” error appears, pull out paper tray and add more if
needed (supplies in red filing cabinet labeled as “Kodak 8.5x12”).
If the paper is not empty but you still get this error, check the paper
size settings on the right side of the paper tray (remove tray completely,
switch for paper size is near the back on the right side). The setting
should be = 8.5x12. The paper settings on the document itself must
also be set for 8.5x12 paper and 8x10 print area.
If you must cancel
a print job, hit the cancel button on the front of the machine.
If
the paper, ribbon, or ink runs out or the printer jams, please alert the IT Call Center
in 9CC-225.
